Salzburger Landesmeisterschaften in show jumping 2024

My journey to my first gold medal.

Some weeks ago I got the incredible chance to compete at the Salzburger Landesmeisterschaften and am proud to say to have won first place in my age category, Juniors.

Here’s my journey and how I got to celebrate this success.

I started horse riding at the Ewot academy within the school activity. Cathy and Sally, my trainers, along with the horses I got to ride here have taught me everything Ive learned till now. I started jumping two years ago on one of our very reliant school horses, Colour. After earning my first riding badge, the „Reiterpass“, Cathy and Sally took me on my first tournament. Over these two years I got the opportunity to compete on multiple horses: Carry, Lance, Lola and Beach. All of them have taught me different things, gave me confidence and helped me develop as a rider. One special thing about the horses we get to ride at the Ewot academy is that they all competed on a very high level, much like our trainers, therefore they help us by giving us confidence. They got me my first ribbons and my first first place. But have also shown me my mistakes, everything they taught me I can now prove under the saddle of my own sport horse. Kaylie has carried me through my first 105m and up to my first 1,20m this summer. He has given us numerous placings this year by always giving his best. In the last two weeks I was placed two times in my first international tournament as well as now winning the first place in the regional championships. The tournament took place over three rounds. In the first two rounds you had to stay clear and in the final round which is a final jump off (a shorter speed round with tighter turns). I was the last to compete in the jump off and knew that if I were to have a third clear round this would mean the first place. I don’t think I’ll ever forget how I felt when I finished the round clear and thus won with 3/3 clear rounds.

I have dedicated a lot of focus and time to my training over these two years and this also ment missing school from time to time and having a very tight schedule. However, this has helped me improve my self management skills. I got very disciplined because if you want to be successful in the sport and still achieve top grades you have to structure your timetable well. The Ewot academy helps you every step along the way. They organize everything around the tournaments from transport there and back, accommodation and all things regarding the needs of the horses. This allows me to stay on top of my schoolwork and keep on track.

Cathy and Sally support me with everything and have become very important to me. I couldn’t have achieved what I have without their support. They made it so easy for me to join the competitive sport, introduced me to everything, provide the best horses and care for us with patience and compassion. I could not be more thankful to have this opportunity and look forward to all experiences and successes I hopefully get to celebrate in the future!
